Bring your own music. Step inside it. Slap the beat to the floor.

Beatscape turns any song in your library into an immersive rhythm game for Apple Vision Pro. Notes drift toward you through a living, music-reactive landscape – and you play them with your bare hands, knocking each one down to the floor with a slap. No controllers. No fixed track list. Just your music, all around you.

Requires Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 27 or later.

What makes it different

Most rhythm games hand you a fixed set of songs. Beatscape flips that: you bring the music. Drop in a track you own and Beatscape analyzes it on the spot – finding the beats and instruments – and builds a playable note chart just for that song. Every track you own becomes something you can step inside and play.

And because it’s generated from the music itself, every song is its own world. The rolling hills, the colors, the sky – all of it is drawn from the track, morphing in real time with the tempo, the drums, the energy of the chorus. The same song always looks and plays the same. No two songs look alike.

How it works

  1. Import a song from your library.
  2. Press Play and step into the space.
  3. Slap the notes down as they reach you – build combos, chase your high score, and trigger the Zoomies.

Features

  • Play any song you own– your own files or the purchased music from your Apple Music library.
  • Hands-on gameplay – no controllers; you slap the beats out of the air.
  • A world per song – procedurally generated, music-reactive landscapes and colors, unique to every track.
  • Combos & Zoomies – chain hits to multiply your score, then unleash a bigger, wilder mode.
  • Three difficulties – Easy, Hard, and Dumb, from relaxed to relentless.

Getting your music in

Beatscape plays music you own – it’s a player and a game, not a streaming service. There are three ways to add tracks.

Import your own files

Drag any audio file (MP3, M4A, WAV, and more) anywhere onto Beatscape, or tap + in the Imported tab to pick one. Your file is copied into the app, so it’s safe even if you move or delete the original. DRM-protected files can’t be imported – they can’t be analyzed or played.

Apple Music

Songs get in through a playlist called Beatscape in your Apple Music library. Create it (there’s a button in the Apple Music tab, or make it yourself), add songs, and download the playlist so Beatscape stays in sync.

Which songs qualify? Only music you actually own and have downloaded to your device: tracks purchased from the iTunes Store, or matched/uploaded to your iCloud Music Library with iTunes Match. Apple Music subscription (streaming) songs are copy-protected and can’t be imported – that’s an Apple restriction no app can work around.

Pro tip: Not sure which of your songs qualify? On a Mac, open the Music app and make a Smart Playlist set to match any of: iCloud Status is PurchasediCloud Status is MatchediCloud Status is Uploaded. Every eligible song collects in one place – add those to your Beatscape playlist and they’re guaranteed to play.

The Shop (experimental)

Search a huge catalog, preview any track, and buy the ones you want from Qobuz – the purchased, DRM-free file can be imported straight into your library.

How to play

  • Slap to score. When a note reaches you, knock it downward to the floor with your hand.
  • Build your combo. Consecutive hits raise your multiplier (up to 8×). Only a missed note resets it.
  • Trigger the Zoomies. Fill the meter, then smack the yarn ball to kick off a wilder, higher-scoring mode.
  • Pick your challenge. Easy, Hard, or Dumb – set it before you play.
  • Pause or leave anytime from the in-game controls; closing the game brings your library back.

This is a beta

You’re one of the first people to try Beatscape, so expect some rough edges – and please tell us about them (see below). A few things to know:

  • The Shop / buy-from-Qobuz flow is the most experimental part and the most likely to misbehave.
  • Some features are still being tuned and polished.

Your privacy

  • No account, no sign-in.
  • Hand tracking stays on your device. Beatscape uses Apple’s on-device hand tracking to know when you hit a note – that data is never uploaded or stored.
  • Your music stays yours. Imported files are copied into the app’s private storage on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.

Calling all musicians

Beatscape is looking for artists to feature. If you’d like your music hosted here and turned into a playable, immersive experience, I’d love to hear from you – reach out to ben@benmakesapps.com or through the Get in Touch button in the app’s Featured tab.
